Sorry that it's taken so long to get a rig together that will work. I'm now using 3D Ripper DX with Google 5.2.1.188 and 3d max design 2011 to pull models out of google earth. I am currently using a GTX 550 card, though I've also seen it work with some integrated mobile video cards as well.
For those that can not grab their own site, I will try to respond to requests here, time permitting. Requirements are same as previously:
- the larger the request, the more "rough" the mesh will be
- the best size for a grab is 1-2 city blocks
- and for special requests (like textures), please include your email so I can contact you.

DeleteUnfortunately, this old method (as mentioned in the post and elsewhere on this blog) does not capture any of the new 3d buildings.
Your best bet is to import your model and views into google earth and get screen captures out of that for context, and then pshopping your views into your renderings..

ReplyDeleteI'm a scenery developer for flight simulation and have tried all methods using GLXextractor to 3D Ripper DX on my GTX 770. They've all returned as terrain/mesh with no buildings no matter the zoom! This is how San Francisco looks like:
